University Place

UNIVERSITY PLACE

ABOUT

University Place is a picturesque suburban enclave that sits directly West of Tacoma proper. It's known as a great place to raise a family with its expansive parks, convenient shopping, and classic neighborhoods. This area was the center of the sports world's limelight when Chambers Bay Golf Course hosted the 2015 US Open. Much more than a golf course, the large, public park and walking loop is the crown jewel of University Place and offers its residents a constant waterside retreat for long walks, picnics, and train watching.

EVENTS

Chambers Creek Park

Pierce County owns and operates both Chambers Bay Golf Course and Chambers Creek Park. They are constantly pairing with local businesses and community groups to offer family programming, such as movie nights, camp outs, and fun runs. Look for an up to date schedule here.

CULTURE

Convenient Shopping

University Place has some of the best grocery store options in the area. With Whole Foods, Harbor Greens, and Trader Joes all within a mile of one another, residents are provided a convenient and fresh set of options for their weekend trip to the supermarket.

HOUSING

Family / Condominium

UP is largely made up of private suburban neighborhoods built from the 1960's-2000's. Large, family homes are tucked in to woodland areas for increased privacy and beauty. Recently, condominiums have began to be erected around the city's center in an area called "The Village."

DINING

On-the-Go / Eclectic

Like most suburban cities, unique dining and lounge options aren't the highlight of University Place. That said, UP still has an eclectic batch of restaurants for people who want to dine out. Options include Indian, Greek, Japanese, Thai, Mexican, and Italian. For those seeking a more sophisticated dining experience in University Place, we recommend Grassi's Ristorante for traditional Italian food in a lovely setting.
WE ALL SCREAM
BLISS - SMALL BATCH CREAMERY

Too Cute Ice Cream Shop

Bliss started as a mobile company, operating a vintage ice cream trailer and tricycles at local markets and events. They've recently expanded into a very cute storefront near Whole Foods in "The Village." Their delicious ice cream stands out because the owners are committed to only using the very best natural ingredients that are free from any artificial dies, flavors and preservatives.
